5Perplexus Epic  May 06, 2011
By Nicky
I loved the original Perplexus so I couldn't wait for Perplexus Epic to come out. I bought Epic at a retail store and I can tell you the guy who invented this thing must be an evil genius! You could speed through the Original Perplexus once knew what you were doing. With Epic, you have to finesse the ball different ways in different areas or that thing is going off the track.Cool new obstacles. One looks like stairs out of an Escher painting. If you loved Original Perplexus you have got to try EPIC!

33rd time's a charm?  Jun 07, 2011
By A. Robbins
I'm waiting for my third Epic as I write this. The first two had defects that made them unplayable, which is sad because I'm a big fan of the Rookie and Standard balls and I've been waiting for this one for awhile. The Perplexuses are great games and I would fully give this a 5 across the board if the quality control on these things was a little better. :(

The first Epic had a misaligned section of the maze that offset several key points, making them almost impossible. Eventually I realized it WAS impossible at a point because the ball didn't have room to go under an obstacle. Returned it. Amazon sent another.

Second Epic looked good, but on closer inspection the piece that the gondola slides along has a spur in the plastic that won't allow the gondola to slide all the way across to the other side. Returned it. Amazon sent another.

Update: The third Perplexus is defect-free, I'm happy to report. It was almost a game in itself trying to get one that wasn't defective. I'm glad that Amazon makes returning and exchanging items easy.

1Broke Within 2 Hours!!  May 19, 2011
By Coralsnake
After waiting for months (including the postponed release date), the Perpluxus Epic finally arrived yesterday and my son was overjoyed when he returned home from school.
However, after only an hour of playing with it he showed me that one of the screws (by #1) was very loose and that he must be careful that the ball doesn't fall through when he begins playing(picture posted).
Another hour later, he came to me to tell me that the funnel piece totally dislodged from the Perplexus (picture posted as well) and is now rolling around the unit whenever it is moved, effectively making it unplayable. This seems to be the same piece that has broken on another reviewer unit as well.
As you can imagine, my son and I are devastated!
After waiting months for this, the unit broke within a few short hours and was not even dropped once (compared to our regular Perplexus that has been dropped multiple times but keeps on ticking!).
I have emailed the company but have not received a response yet.
Edit- After contacting the company, I received a replacement which seems to be much better quality.

3poor quality control  Jun 26, 2011
By DelitiesCap
Very fun to play, until you find out you cannot finish the puzzle because of manufacturing defects. The receiving funnel is coming undone and is very loose. A tab at 51 that holds the twin rails has broken and it poking out of the rails so the ball bearing cannot go through 50 to 52. Massive disappointment for such a good toy. The Original on the other hand is very solid.
Bottom line - Very nicely design, but buy at your own risk as you may not be able to finish the game due to poor quality control.

5My new Vice...  May 18, 2011
By Blaze
I just received my Perplexus Epic after months of anticipation and I am absolutely blown away! Perplexus Original is a big hit in our family and after mastering it, I couldn't wait to see how many hours of my life would be "wasted" on this Epic adventure. Not surprisingly, the hours have turned more into time periods known as days, and I have found myself neglecting most of my normal husband and fatherly duties once I get home from the grind...(thanks for the break Epic). It is definitely more sophisticated, complex, and entertaining that the Original, and seems like it should be handled with some extra TLC because of its complexity. Crazy hard, crazy fun!
