Good Creative craft May 27, 2008
By Chloe's Mom I bought this for my 9 year old Granddaughter recently. She absolutely loved to make this lip balm. It came with little tins to hold the balm in and stickers to decorate the tins. It comes with three flavors (that are also coloring)and easy to follow instructions. After following one recipe, she decided to make her own flavor and turned out some really nice flavors and colors of balm which she shared with her sister.
I think this was a winner!

Garbage Oct 21, 2009

We've tried just about every "make your own" kit out there (not to mention endless craft projects, art projects, cooking projects, etc.) I am far from a neat freak. I dont mind making messes if the kids are having fun.
This was BY FAR the biggest disappointment we've has - and I didnt think anything could top the Girl Gourmet cupcake maker!
The material is basically vasiline. It's difficult for the kids to scoop out, mix and get into the little containers. It is nearly impossible to wash off any surface because it just gels ups. Imagine dipping your hands in a jar of vasiline and then attempting to wash it off. Whoops, now the faucet is slippery too! The spatula, jars and everything close by was quickly covered in a sticky film that just wouldn't go away.
We managed to get some "balm" into the containers but it stayed a sticky yet mushy consistency which made it impossible to apply. You touch your finger to the substance and a huge glob stretches from your hand to the container. We even tried to put it in the freezer. No luck.
Don't waste your money. The only thing that's worth anything in the kit is the balm containers.
What a total waste of time and ridiculous mess.

Bought for 8-year-old Jan 18, 2009

We bought this for our 8-year-old daughter for Christmas. She's been able to make three different lipbalms so far. She has had a lot of fun playing with the different flavors. As a parent I am not impressed with this toy. The lipbalm base is very hard to clean up afterwards. It's greasy and doesn't clean up with dishsoap and leaves a messy residue. Also, the lipbalms are really soft after making them. She put them in the freezer to harden them up, which helped, but when they warmed back up, they were runny again. This happened with all three that she's made even though she's had adult supervision making them (so we know they're being made correctly).

Quick n' Easy to make lip gloss Jun 22, 2008
This make your own lip gloss kit is quick, easy to make, and it is almost impossible to mess up while making it. Plus, IT ACTUALLY WORKS!!! I got this for a 12th birthday gift, and it is sooooooo fun to use and make! I love it so much! If you are looking for a present for a girl who is turning 9,10,11,12, or, depending on the girl, even an 8 year old, this gift is highly recomended. TIP:Thirteen-year-olds like other make-ups and jewelery.
