FUN ARTSY PLAYTIME Nov 16, 2009
By Mickey Mikeworth I love this whole series because it is a perfect fit for tweens and kids off to college. Its more difficult and that is what is great about it. The paper is thick and can be done is a variety of inks and pencils. If you have fancy pens this will work out well. Gel ink that stays on top of the paper works well but it is far and away the best in high quality color pencil.would add paper to protect the artists pages from being smudged because it is a BOOK.
This is a great way to layer ideas and give something an all day effort- or pick up a few lines and toss it down. Quality is great!
A great camp gift, away at school, or just sitting on the beach or in a plane. Not for anyone under age 9 that wants to savor each drawing- if you are buying this for liitle kids I would make a copy and let them have fun with it in a regular paper and not just hand them this book as a collection. For college kids its a great way to rest the hard working side of the brain and let creative thought back in and just chill out in the land of coloring.

Hidden Transformations coloring book Jan 08, 2008

I bought 2 of these- one for my stepdaughter and one for my son. They love this coloring book! It opened the door for a great discussion about art, which led to works by Escher and other artists. The paper is thicker and of good quality. I highly recommend this for older kids who enjoy detail work and have patience.

Room for creativity Jul 23, 2011
By K. Kasabian Coloring books? I'm generally not a fan. Filling in someone else's creation is not my idea of open-ended artistic exploration. There are exceptions, and this book qualifies.
Hidden Transformations appeals to me on a couple of fronts. As a curious pattern builder, I am challenged by the intricately detailed images that pop to life with the addition of color. As the overloaded careerist/mother/wife, I turn to a page and lose myself in the meditative process of quiet coloring. The exercise lends itself to minutes or hours, whatever your schedule allows.
Note: though there are 48 pages in the book, but only a few patterns, which are repeated throughout. Recommended.

pleasure time Jul 18, 2011
By Barbara Enjoyable pastime. Good pictures to color. Only problem - the quality of the paper is not as I expected and color markers do not come out so well as they come through to the next page.

Loved it Mar 17, 2010
By mommamonkey I have to admit, I liked this better that my daughter, and I bought it for her. She is very artistic, so I thought it was a good match, but she doesn't use it much. I had one when I was her age and loved it. I think I will get it out and color in it right now. Get a set of good coloring pencils and a sharpener to go with it.
