Relaxing Creative Fun for all ages Dec 31, 2006

"Spirited Lady"
I have completed over 4 of these "adult coloring books" as I call them. I have started on my 5th and have plans to purchase this one and 1 other very soon. They are relaxing yet open a creative channel for those who enjoy arts or crafts. I love using different tools to color the diagrams in with and I enjoy seeing the colors bring the pictures to life. I have also found the color combinations that I truely enjoy working with and transfer those colors into other projects for crafts that I sell and give as gifts. This way I am able to play with color schemes without wasting valuable craft product. I use anything from color makers, pencils, gel pens and even chalks to fill in the page and if you don't like your results the book usually has 2 of each pattern so you have another chance to create something you like. The finished product can also be used to creat another craft product if you really like the outcome. With a scanner you could make placemates for your home, design totes or sweatshirts and more. Great for anyone of any age looking for a simple, inexpensive, relaxing creative outlet for when you are blocked or simply need a break from your choice craft. You'll want a large selection of markers, chalks and color pencils, even paints (put a blotter sheet between the page you are working on and the page behind it before starting).

This is an adult or at least an older child's colouring book. It is advertised for 6 years and up, but I seriously doubt if a 6 years old or any child under 10 would not get frustrated with this. Some of the designs have to be looked at carefully to get the correct colouring spaces done for the spiders, grasshoppers, etc. There are 23 pictures, 24 if you include the smaller one on the title page, which is less than half the size of the others. Twelve are the same, they are repeated twice. They are one sided and the pages are thick enough that most markers will not bleed through This is a nice exercise for those who enjoy more of a challenge in colouring, but certainly not for the very young. You do have to look at the price and see if it is worth the cost for the number of pictures.
