Moon Shoes Used For Sensory Integration Dec 19, 2009 My son has Autism. These Moon shoes are used at his school in order to help him "decompress". They work wonders. He has sensory integration issues and seeks proprioceptive input. These shoes provide that for him and allow him to successfully complete his day. A+++++
The only downside to these shoes is that we've not been able to find replacement bands. We have to simply keep purchasing new shoes. It would be great to be able to purchase replacement bands.

To the Moon and Back Dec 21, 2008 I bought these shoes for my active eleven year old grandson for his birthday. If anyone could test their durability it would be this child. He took them out of the box, completed the small amount of assembly and has seldom taken them off since then. These are such simple bringers of joy and fun. I am planning on purchasing more for my other five grandchildren.

Practice, Patience, and Common Sense make the difference Dec 26, 2006 I bought my seven and ten year old daughters moon shoes for christmas. I had read all the reviews, so I immediately instructed the girls to always wear their bicycle helmets when playing with their moon shoes.
Yes, they can be dangerous, but with a few precautions, I think the kids will have more fun, be safer, and the parents will have peace of mind.
1. Don't let the kids start jumping right away, hold their hand or have them put their hand on your shoulder as they practice walking in them.
2. Once they've achieved the ability to balance, have them practice bouncing in place just a little bit. This will help them learn to balance as they move and learn how the moon shoes respond to the way they move.
3. Set ground rules, no bouncing when there is a lot of debris around, no bouncing while holding objects, always wear helmet, no bouncing near each other, and if you feel or hear any of the rubber bands break while bouncing sit down immediately and take off the shoes.
My kids spent the first half hour/45 minutes getting use to their moon shoes. They now can bounce around with stability and confidence.

Not a good choice Dec 26, 2006 My son got these for a gift. He had seen them on tv and expressed interest. He is 8. I saw the commerical and then saw what was in the box and was confused. Basically there was a pair of velcro sandles and then some large rubber bands (about 24) to attach them to a large black oval piece of plastic. After putting them together which took about 20 minutes, it took my son another 2 days to learn to balance on them. he still can't jump and I'm afraid if he tried to jump like the person on the commerical he would twist his ankle. I feel really bad for the relative that spent $40 on these. I wouldn't recommend them.
